FAQ
xTool MetalFab complies with global certifications, including CE, FCC, FDA, ICES, and features 10 integrated safety systems:
Laser Welder: Dual-button activation + Emergency stop; Safety interlock circuit (with USB key linkage); Real-time laser monitoring (current/voltage/temperature); Grounding detection; Multi-layer electrical protection (safety relays/contactors).
CNC Platform: Auto-stop on cover opening (with drawer sensor); Class 1 safety filter cover (blocks >99.9% of 1080nm wavelength emissions, leakage <1.95mW); Fully transparent explosion-proof viewing window.
The cutting platform is compatible with xTool MetalFab Laser Welder and CNC Cutter models (1200W/800W). It is incompatible with other xTool laser heads or laser welders from different brands.
With 1200W of combined welding and cutting power, the xTool MetalFab handles materials with thicknesses ranging from 0.2mm to 5mm. Applications include automotive repair and modification, metal art and sculpture, outdoor and furniture fabrication, general repair and maintenance, and metal sign production.
Laser welding typically achieves weld strength comparable to, and in some cases exceeding, that of traditional TIG/MIG welding. Due to a smaller heat-affected zone, narrower and deeper welds, and finer microstructure, laser welding delivers superior strength performance.
Shielding Gas: Laser welding generally uses smaller quantities of inert gas (e.g., Argon, Helium) or mixed gases due to the smaller heat-affected zone, focusing protection on the weld area. Traditional methods like MIG/MAG or TIG consume more gas, especially for larger welds.Electricity: Laser welding's focused energy and high thermal efficiency require less power to complete the same task, resulting in lower electricity costs than traditional welding, which has lower thermal efficiency and greater energy dispersion.
Under normal operating conditions, the laser has a cumulative lifespan of 10,000 hours. For laser replacement costs, please get in touch with xTool's official after-sales support.
